Despite its proven benefits, there’s much mystery surrounding Hypnobirthing. Let’s take a look at some of the common questions…
Isn’t it going to be a bit too ‘woo woo’ for me?
No way! All women can benefit from hypnobirthing, regardless of background, beliefs or lifestyle. Hypnobirthing is a toolkit which allows you to make informed choices during pregnancy and to be calm and in control of your birth experience. It’s based on proven, scientific evidence and really works!
But I don’t want to get hypnotised!
Everybody experiences a state of hypnosis every day. Hypnosis is when we allow our ‘non-thinking’ part of the brain to take over, just as you do when you walk to the shops ‘on autopilot’ and then can’t remember how you got there. It’s a common misconception that women who do hypnobirthing lose control of their minds and bodies – they don’t! Just as you don’t lose your mind when you walk to the shops. Hypnobirthing gives you information to understand why the ‘non-thinking’ mind is crucial during birth and a set of tools to harness its immense power.
But what if I want pain relief during labour?
Hypnobirthing works with any type of birth, with or without pain relief. You can even have a hypnobirthing c-section – true story! It gives you the information to understand how and why different sensations are felt during labour and what strategies you can use to manage them. It allows you to make informed choices to achieve a positive birth experience. The course also provides a practical tool kit for the birth partner which many say makes all the difference on the big day.
Does it even work?
We are proud to offer world-renowned KGHypnobirthing. The KGHypnobirthing course is Royal College of Midwives accredited and is logical, simple, practical…and very effective!
I think I’m just gonna wing it
At The Empowerment Rooms, we believe every woman has the right to go into birth as prepared as she feels is right for her. That’s a no-brainer for us. We also like to think of birth as a monumental physical event – a hugely important day – much like a marathon would be, we guess. The difference is that with a marathon, it would be seen as crazy not to prepare your mind and body in advance. We believe the birth experience should be afforded with the same enthusiasm to prepare and you should feel proud to do so. Think of hypnobirthing as buying some super comfy trainers for your marathon and you’ll be off to a great start.
